The explode part totally ignores damage reductions corresponding to the nature of the defensive ability used. Example: https://www.db.pandawow.me?spell=144798/exploding-iron-star is FIRE so if you use a defensive ability which reduces MAGIC damage taken then it should reduce the damage of https://www.db.pandawow.me?spell=144798/exploding-iron-star.
