On Monday(08.12.14), starting from 08:00 Moscow time(GMT +3), will be start cleaning the database of characters, which did not login in game a long time, on the following criteria:

 

Realm x10:

 

Will be removed characters up to lvl 19(inclusive), which did not login in game more than 6 months from the current date.

Will be removed characters from 20 to 89 lvl(inclusive), which did not login in game more than 12 months from the current date.

 

It is planned that will be removed about 30% of chars from the current number of characters in the realm.

 

Realm x100:

 

Will be removed characters up to lvl 19(inclusive), which did not login in game more than 6 months from the current date.

Will be removed characters from 20 to 89 lvl(inclusive), which did not login in game more than 12 months from the current date.

 

It is planned that will be removed about 35% of chars from the current number of characters in the realm.

 

Realm Fun:

 

Will be removed characters, which did not login in game more than 6 months from the current date and if they have a playedtime less than 12 hours.

 

It is planned that will be removed about 40% of chars from the current number of characters in the realm.

 

If you have a character for whom you did not go more than 6 months and you need it, just login for it one time, so they do not fall under the deletion.

 

Most likely in the cleaning day (08.12.14), realms will not be available until late at night (and maybe a fan until the next day), because the amount of data to detect and remove a very large + after cleaning will be carried out to optimize all databases.

All the necessary work has been completed for the x10 realm, 166246 characters removed, it will be available in the next hour after the necessary checks.

 

For x100 realm is in the process of optimization of the database, the expected start-up time in the vicinity 14:00 MSK +- 1 hour.

 

On the Realm Fun is in the process of cleaning the database, which is already completed by 15%, the expected start-up time can be called only after 3-4 hours.

Realm x10 is available for login.

 

For realm x100 also completed all the work and it is available for login, removed 658961 characters.

Status of work on 15:00 (GMT +3):

 

On Fun realm cleaning DB completed by 80%, I can not to predict the time of its completion, but the most pessimistic forecasts, the cleaning is completed in next 3 hours, ie at 18:00 MSK time(Fun DB is 2.5 times more than DB x100), and then will need about 6-8 hours for optimizing the database, and because it is a work day is over, it is likely Fun today should not wait and it will be available tomorrow morning at 09:00 Moscow time.

But can still change through 3 hours I will be report about progress.

 

In fact the aim of these works is not cleaning the database in its conventional sense (although delete not used characters, and more free database also good), but it is also a 2nd attempt (1st was transferred login to another hardware) to fix up server delay (every 30 minutes), which became observed in the last month (before this also have, but not for 4-6 seconds, and 0.5-1 sec).

 

After a few hours of work realms, we have the following statistics:

 

On x10 earlier times in 30 minutes were up server delay of 1 to 1.6 sec, now these jumps from 0.3 to 0.5 seconds and not more than once per hour, with an average server delay also decreased by 10-15%, and the peak in 2-2.5 times.

On x100 earlier every 15-30 minutes were up server delay of 4.5 to 6.5 sec, now these jumps up to 2.0-4.5 sec., And the average server delay also decreased by 10-15%, and the peak of 1.5 times.

Result for Fun realm we can see no earlier than the evening - night, and the analysis itself will hold tomorrow, but the improvement in peak delay will also be in the range of 1.5-2.5 times.

 

Anyway, we are not satisfied with the result, is expected to complete disappearance of this delay on the plan to hold another one cleanup DB work next Monday, will clean 25-30% chars in each realm and delete unused accounts, after that in theory should make these jumps invisible to the players, but in more detail and criteria for another cleaning we will inform in a separate topic for 3 days before it starts.

Removed 166 246 unused characters, now they number 402 885, previously database size 22 GB, now 14.1 GB.

Problems with up server delay to 1-2 sec. every 15 min resolved.

 

x100:

 

Removed 658 961 unused characters, now they number 1 244 025, previously database size 61 GB, now 42 GB.

Problems with up server delay to 4-6 sec. every 15 min resolved.

 

Fun:

 

Removed 932 455 unused characters, now they number 1 477 582, previously database size 145 GB, now 90 GB.

Problems with up server delay to 3-4 sec. every 15 min resolved.

 

Thus it is possible to bring a positive result, the databases decreased in size by 35-40%, which is a positive impact on performance, was also able to get rid of jumps server delay, which in recent months has contributed discomfort for players from x100 and Fun (to a lesser extent for x10), and are now so-called lag of 4-6 seconds because of problems at the server level is no more.
