2. When you summon your elemental and fly far away from the totems drop point, when you land on the floor you will then have a permanent pet following you, and attacking people.

 

3. After 1 minute the pet you summoned should dissapear just like the tooltip states " Lasts 1 minute "

- The pet can be brought through loading screens making it viable in raids and battlegrounds.

pet still persists forever if you fly far away from the totems drop location.

 

To Note: When this buff dissapears from under the characters frame that's when it seems to stay forever.
