The reason why you are not able to use trinkets like you described in your first post is because they use the same spell, which has 1 minute cooldown (while item has 15 seconds).

This is a server-wide issue, there are probably more items like that. Currently made a hack fix for trinkets which use this current spell.

Will be applied tomorrow after restart.
