Deielrion Posted May 12, 2014 Share Posted May 12, 2014 As Deadly said; when it was first added to the game, I don't think it had any requirements to buy, and so they were able to purchase it from the vendor during 5.0.5 (before the update to 5.4.2), thus being able to keep it and transmogrify it to their current gear.
